剧情简介
Lois Ames is devoted to her job as the editor of a magazi ne, and her weal thy husband Fred is equally ded icated t o polo and p a rties. Lois's long ho urs drive her secretary to quit, and she replaces he r with Tom Sheridan, who hap pe ns to be in t he office demonstrating a rowing machine. Tom likes the work and continues to advance un til he is indispensable to Lois . Ruth Holma n, Tom's fiancée, is jealous o f Tom's relationship with Lois and with some re ason, as he is fall ing in love with her. In t he meantime, Fred is h aving an affair with Ann Le Maire, a woman whose interest s ar e closer to his own. Because he feels his love for Lois is hopeless, Tom quits his job and plans his marriage to Ruth. Lois tries to patch things up with Fred, but he suggests that they divorce instead. On Tom's last night, Lois ke eps him working late. Ruth is furious and storms up to the office whe re Loi s and Tom are dining. She threatens to tell Lois's hu sband about their relationship, which leave s the way clear for Lois to announce her pendin g div orce. Rut h breaks off her engagement to Tom, and he immediately asks Lo is to ma rry him.
