剧情简介
Vienna, 1920. The Aus tro-Hungarian Empire has collapsed. Peter Perg returns home from the Great Wa r, after seven years as a Russian POW. Vienna is experiencing the multiplicity of political, social and artistic freedom, but also the rise of anti-democr atic movements, insecurity and unemploy ment. Peter, a former police inspector, feels li ke a s tra nger in t he new Austrian Republic. While wanting to leave town, P eter is confronted with the murder of one of his f ormer comrades. He d ecide s to stay and instead bring the killer to justice. His a lly is Dr. Theresa Körner, a determined and cool-headed forensic doct or. T he two are linked not only by this case, but also by a deeper, shared history. As their investi ga tion progresses, they realise that they are not just up against a system atic killer, who tortures his victi ms, but also face disapproval and intrigue from wit hin the police force. Though de termined to solve the crime, Pet er, ha rbouring his own secrets , increasin gly beco mes torm ented b y existential questions: What is truth? What is hero ism in the time of war?
