剧情简介
On February 20 13, H aleem, born in Aleppo, Sy ria, plans to escape the civil war and go to Germany, wh ere his s is ter lives, and l ater invite hi s fami ly after be ing gr a nted refugee status. During the transit in Korea, he is caught wit h a fake passport and denied entry. H e is later sent to Turkey where he is denied e ntry again, e nding up back in Korea. After staying in the deportation room in the Ko rean airport, he is sent to stay at a foreign shelter, when one day he he ars of his so n's death and goes into a violent rage, unable to handle the sad news. The lawye r in charge of his ca se continues to challenge his det ention , and the Korean Ministry of Justice ends up canceling his Emergency Protective Order without notifying him. Hal eem, who unintentionally step ped into unfamiliar Korean soil, finds himself working illegally at a construction site, where h e meets Riyadh, an unregistered Arab resident. They comfort each other's pain and develop a father and s on relationship. Haleem, who had saved money to bring in his family to Korea, spent all his hard- earned money paying off Riyadh's father's debts. With the help of Youssef, a Ch ristian Arab, Haleem g ets a job at a junkyard and a place to stay. But Riyadh gets into a serious accident and is pronounced brain dead after he is chased by immigration officers. The church elders and ministers plot to use R iyadh's organs for thei r church main elder 9;s tran splant surgery. T hey try to persuade Haleem to concede by telling him that the church can bring his wife and daughter from the Turkish refugee camp to Korea along with their missionar y group. Haleem falls into a religious confl ict and moral dilemma, leading other Arabs aro und him to misunderstand h im. A story about a p erson stu ck in the midst of cultural, religious, ethnic, and national con flict.
