剧情简介
A young woman's cor pse is dumped in the library of Goss ington Hall, home of Jan e Marple& #39;s friend Dolly Bantry and her husband Arthur. Pompous Chief Cons ta ble Melchett susp ects a connection wit h Basil Bl ake, an arty young man who lives l ocally but Blake i s dismiss ive when Melc hett visits him. Then Superintendent Harper rings from the coastal town of D anemouth. Ruby Keane, a young girl employed as a dancer at the Majestic Hotel there, ha s g one mi ssing, and her cousin Josie Turner identifies the corpse as Ruby's. Ruby is in favour w ith millionaire Conway Jefferson, whose own son and da ughter we re killed in a w artime air raid , and he wa nts to adopt her. His son-in-law Mark Gask el l, and daughter-in-law Adelaide reac t variousl y to the news.
