剧情简介
Synop sis In the Allegory of the Cave, Plato ponders: what would happen if one of the pr isoners managed to free the mselves from their chains and escape from the cave? Wha t if t hat prisoner were Jay, a little 7-year-old boy? Director’s statement Wh at lies behind the daily m ovement of a ci ty? Last winter, we met in Paris and began discussing the Allegory of the Cave, as told in Plato’s Republic. The myth imagines humani ty liv ing in chains, facing t he back of a cave, and wa tching s hadows move on the walls, thinking it is reality. We both work with images, which certainly can be il lusions, but can also become instruments of struggle and liberation of t hou g ht. So, from this discussion, w e de ci ded to create a short fil m. We had a few fixed idea s—the cave, the dance, the city bustling around us—and one question: what would happen if we all managed to turn together tow ards the exit of the cave? Perhaps it is not enough to assert that images are illusions as long as the chains that bi nd us ar e real.
